The first GARLANDO WORLD TABLE FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP is getting near its  most important phase, when its finals will be held in Oberwart, Austria, from 12th to 18th August. Born from the initiative of a table football fan and an enthusiastic player himself, Mr. Gaal, a Hungarian living in Austria and a  President of a table football club, the competition will be played by representative teams from Austria, Switzerland, Poland, Hungary, Belgium, Italy, the United Kingdom and Canada.  The tournament - fully played upon Garlando tables - is open to both men and women and includes various categories, such as  singles, doubles,  mixed, 20 & under, and many others, and the participation has already proved to be large-scale, thanks to the table football popularity but also to the prize money, which amounts to 25.000 Euros. Among the variety of Garlando tables, the organisators have selected the Deluxe, which Garlando have purposely modified to include the following features: - solid rods- sanded glass- rounded feet players, for a better ball control- long playfield with rotating goalkeeper but with an advanced goal, so that the ball cannot go behind the goalkeeper without it being able to stop it- shorter rubbers (23 mm.) to allow the more external players in the row of 5 to stop the ball coming from the opponent, which was not possible with longer springs.- goals with squared corners
